After defeating Cleveland in a close game on Wednesday the Boston Celtics embarked on a west coast road trip. This road trip began last night against the Los Angeles Lakers. This rivalry between the Celtics and Lakers used to be one of the greatest rivalries in sports, however due to the Lakers going into rebuild mode and the retirement of Kobe Bryant the rivalry has been inadequate in intensity and coming up short in comparison to the past. The Celtics went on to beat the Lakers 115-95, with six Celtics players in double figures.
This was a good win for the Celtics to start off the this 5-game road trip. The Celtics next game is tomorrow against the Suns. The Suns have the 3rd worst record in the league so it won’t be a surprise if the Celtics win and win big. After the Suns is where the road trip will get a little bit more difficult for the Celtics. On Monday the Celtics will play the Los Angeles Clippers who are a top team in the West. The Clippers should give the Celtics a run for their money but in the end I believe that the Celtics pull that game out.
After the Celtics play the Clippers on Monday they will play the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. This will no doubt be the biggest game for the Celtics on the road trip. The Warriors have the best record in the league and one of the best players in the world in Steph Curry. This will be a very difficult game for the Celtics, especially playing on the road. However, if this any hope the Celtics, the Warriors recently lost Kevin Durant for the foreseeable future. This is a huge loss for the Warriors, Durant is arguably the second best player in the world behind LeBron James. Without Durant, it would be surprising to see but the Celtics could possibly win that game against the Warriors. Now don’t get me wrong it will be a tough gamer but there is hope that the Celtics can win.
Finally, after the Celtics play both the Clippers and the Warriors, the Celtics will conclude their road trip versus the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets are right in the middle of the pack, but I really don’t see them giving the Celtics any troubles. Ultimately the Celtics should win at least 3 out of their 5 games on the road. This road trip will be interesting to watch, especially on Wednesday versus the Warriors.
